SUBSCRIPTION, ITS MEANING, TYPES AND HOW CAN WE USE IT

This is my Fourth post on the series of making money with your site or blog. In today’s Post I shall be discussing about subscription, its meaning, types and how can we use it in our web or blog as a method of earning money. Now let’s have a look at the subscription:-

  1. A payment for consecutive issues of a newspaper or magazine for a given period of time.
  2. Agreement expressed by (or as if expressed by) signing your name
  3. A pledged contribution
  4. The act of signing your name; writing your signature (as on a document); "the deed was attested by the subscription of his signature"

The subscription business model is a business model where a customer must pay a subscription price to have access to the product/service and such product or service is offered for a specified period. The model was pioneered by magazines and newspapers, but is now used by many businesses and websites. Rather than selling products individually, a subscription sells periodic (monthly or yearly or seasonal) use or access to a product or service, or, in the case of such non-profit organizations as opera companies or symphony orchestras, it sells tickets to the entire run of five to fifteen scheduled performances for an entire season.

Thus, a one-time sale of a product can become a recurring sale and can build brand loyalty. It is used for anything where a user is tracked in both a subscribed, and an unsubscribed status. Membership fees to some types of organizations, such as trade unions, are also known as subscriptions.

There are different categories of subscriptions:

  1. A subscription for a fixed set of goods or services, such as one copy of each issue of a newspaper or magazine for a definite period of time.
  2. A subscription for unlimited use of a service or collection of services. Usage may be personal and non-transferable, for a family, or under certain circumstances, for a group utilizing a service at one time.
  3. A subscription for basic access or minimal service plus some additional charge depending on usage. A basic telephone service pays a pre-determined fee for monthly use but may have extra charges for additional services such as long-distance calls, directory services and pay-per-call services.

How to Use the Subscription Business Model

  1. First of all determine whether your business will be best served by a subscription model.
  2. Secondly define the specific terms of use for your particular product or service and the limits of their usage.
  3. Thirdly motivate your customers that how much they can save by committing to a long-term business relationship, as opposed to a one-time purchase.
  4. Fourthly offer a "lifetime" membership, which allows the customer to enjoy your products or service without limits for a certain price.
  5. Fifth make the renewal process effortless. This may involve automatic renewals, where the customer will be charged once the original term of usage expires unless she specifically designates otherwise.
  6. Sixth carefully wording of all contracts between the customer and the subscription service to make it legal. Make sure that your customer understands everything before he commits.

In my next post I shall be discussing some other methods of earning money from your blog or website.

Affiliate Marketing

What is affiliate marketing? In simple words, Affiliate Marketing is a partnership between you and the product manufacturer or the webmaster whose affiliate you are. In this partnership, you are supposed to drive traffic to his site, and when some body buys a product from that webmasters website, you will get rewards.

The reward is typically called Affiliate Commission. An affiliate commission can be as low as 5% and as high as 80%, depending on how much the webmaster is willing to give you.

This is the best form of making money online, because it does not cost you any thing at all. You don't need to spend a single penny. The top affiliates can earn millions per month, while any affiliate who has traffic on his site can make a reasonable earning from it.
Here are few affiliate marketing ideas:-
  1. Lead Generation – Generate leads on the website and sell them to prospects.
  2. Commissions for Actions – You are being paid every time an action is completed e.g. email newsletter sign up, trial sign-up, survey etc. for example selling some ebook.
  3. Commission For Events Promotion – promote events in your industry in exchange for a commission on ticket sales. Approach any event organizer
  4. Commissions for Sales – you get paid a fixed commission or percentage share of sales value.

Blogging For Money Making: 10 Exciting & Simple Ways to Money Making

A few weeks ago I came accross a blogg where a leading blogger was asked how blogs should make money. His reply was “start with Google Adsense and once you have built up a decent size audience sell display ads and sponsorship”.
It is very simple to tell that use "Google Adsense" but how many of us really know how to use it. Secondly to get money from Google Adsense you must have a good blogg that is being visited by many number of peoples daily and the you must have a good CTR (Click Through Rate). This is the reason which is stopping many bloggers and content website owners from realising the commercial potential of their sites. In my opinion and my research there are dozens of ways of making money online from a good content website. Here I am giving you first 10 which exclusively deals with advertising only. Remaining I will give you in my next post.
Advertising
  1. Text AdsIts definition is "Advertisement using text-based hyperlinks" Affiliate marketing is one area where text ads have flourished. However, many mainstream advertisers are only beginning to discover the power of text. Google has caused a buzz with its text advertising options, generating a self-proclaimed "click-through rate 4-5 times higher than industry standard for banner ads."
While lacking some of the advantages of graphical ads, text-based ads have some powerful advantages of their own. They download almost instantly and are not affected by ad blocking software.Google AdSense dominates the market in this regard.
  2. Display Advertising – Display advertising appears on web pages in many forms, including web banners and button ads displayed at the top or to the side of content. These banners can consist of static or animated images, as well as interactive media that may include audio and video elements. Adobe Systems Flash or .gif are the preferred presentation formats for such interactive advertisements.
  3. Video Ads – Video advertising can be an effective avenue for reaching an audience. The term video advertising is used, to refer to all full-motion visual presentations of information. Short video ads are embedded into a page. They can be auto-play (annoying!) or be clicked to play. There is usually an example on the Yahoo.com home page.
  4. In-Content Ads – Another simple way to advertise through a blogg or website is an advertising system that embeds ads within the text of Web pages on sites that agree to host them. It matches ad inventory with the text on the pages and turns words or phrases into hypertext links that are typically double underlined rather than single underlined. If the modified text is moused over, a brief ad appears, and if the user clicks the ad, the site publisher is paid for the click-through.
  5. Classifieds – Generally it is reffered to a short ad in a newspaper or magazine (usually in small print) and appearing along with other ads of the same type. The same concept is followed in online versions as well. These are the given by the advertisers and the same phenomina of CTR is applied to pay. Lots of content websites have niche classifieds available in their display.
  6. Jobs Board – A job board is a website which displays the paid job listings. Displaying yourself a job listings from affiliates is a good source of earning.
  7. Pre-roll/post-roll video ads – These are the short ads which are shown in the beginning and end of any video clip. Most common example is of youtube.
  8. Paid Reviews – Many companies Pays to review their books, products or services. This can be very exciting job provided you have got command on your writing skills Moreover you have to get an idea of the product under review. Companys pay much better for writing reviews than just displaying an ad.
  9. Pay Per Post – This is somewhat related to Paid Reviews but only difference is that here you write posts mentioning a product, company or service for a fee. Writing a post without mentioning your itersts is unethical.
  10. Advertorial – Word derived from a combination of the words advertisement and editorial, describing an advertising message presented in an editorial format. This form of advertising is used to offer information about sources or services of public interest and to communicate opinion about social, economic, political, or personal issues (advocacy advertising), as well as to lobby for legislative changes. By law, an advertisement of this sort must be labeled as an advertisement so as not be confused with an actual editorial.
  11. Sponsorship – It is simply the charge for sponsorship for all or part of your website. Usually a fixed price agreement for a fixed period of time is done.
  12. Directory Listings – Make a directory and wide spread it to the customers and buyers free of cost and get payment form suppliers for listing.
  13. This is the end of my todays post. Inshallah I will come back very soon to give you next Post on Ways of Affiliate Marketing. You all are welcome to comment. I will be very thankful for your remarks. Khuda Hafiz till then
